Pragmatism

Zoli has some serious lungs. And having his diaper changed sometimes makes him a little grumpy. Tony (master diaper changer), being the pragmatic guy that he is, keeps his ear protection (designed for use with power tools) handy for such moments!

The Name

Zoltan Bernhardt Pearcy Tapay.

Short version: Zoli Tapay

Zoltan is an old Hungarian name - Tony is half Hungarian (his father is from there). Zoltan means "sultan", which translates to strength, ruler. We just thought it was a cool name. We call him Zoli, but Zoltan might come in handy sometimes.

Bernhardt was one of my maternal grandfather's middle names. He was a kind, generous man.

Anne, who was at the birth, brought us a meal and spent some time with Z.

Deb (who took our belly & baby pictures) and her daughter Madalyln visit from Seattle when Zoli was 5 days old to take slew of beautiful photos of him.

Our friends Eric & Ady had baby Quinn in July. We're so glad to have good friends in town to share this experience with.

My cousin Laurie & her family live close to Portland & stopped by to greet Zoli.

Laurie's daughter Grace did a great job holding the baby!

My Mom & Dad came out from Maryland to meet their 3rd grandchild & help out. Mom cooked & tidied up and held the baby, of course!

Dad was great with Z, took him outside for walks when he was fussy & let him sleep on his belly.
